AI AS A BOOSTER FOR SIMULATION
WHY NOW? BILLIONS INVESTED IN
AI AS A BOOSTER FOR SIMULATION
IN THE B2B ENVIRONMENT
A GLOBAL TECHNOLOGICAL LEAP
The world is currently experiencing a wave of investment in
artificial intelligence (AI) that is rare in the history of
technology. Companies and governments around the world
are investing billions in AI with the aim of opening up new
markets, driving innovation, and securing competitiveness.
This dynamic is acting as an additional turbocharger for
simulation in the B2B environment. Never before have there
been so many opportunities to take simulations to a new
level with the help of AI.
GLOBAL INVESTMENTS:
THE SCALE OF THE AI BOOM
In the mobility sector in particular, we are increasingly
encountering companies with billion-dollar investments that
are not directly located in the mobility industry, let alone in
the automotive sector. Here are a few examples of such
companies:
•
Microsoft & OpenAI: US$13 billion – AI for
cross-industry solutions, including in the smart mobility
environment
•
Amazon & Tesla: Billions invested in autonomous
systems, AI supercomputers, and intelligent traffic
control
•
NVIDIA: Billions for AI chips, which are crucial in
modern vehicles
•
Google, Meta & Co.: Around US$10 billion each per
year - including for AI-based map and navigation
services
*
USA: In 2024, around US$109 billion in private investment
was made in AI in the United States alone. Over the period
from 2013 to 2024, this amounts to almost half a trillion US
dollars
China: With around US$119 billion in the same period,
China is also a heavyweight in the global AI race
Europe: The European Union invested around US$19.4
billion in 2024, with Germany alone accounting for just
under US$2 billion
These figures make it clear that AI has become a strategic
investment priority, with effects that extend far beyond
individual industries and have a decisive influence on the
entire mobile environment.
Worldwide: The global volume of venture capital for AI
startups rose to US$94.3 billion in the second quarter of
2024, a record high driven primarily by megadeals in the AI
sector
