A WAKE-UP CALL FOR DECISION-MAKERS
What is considered high-tech today will be a prerequisite
tomorrow. “We no longer have time to just stand by and
watch,” warns Gümbel. “The world is more complex, faster,
and more connected. And it won't wait for hesitant
companies.” That is why we now need education – and
courage. Courage to invest in the fusion of these two
technologies. Courage to question old processes. And
courage to see simulation and AI not as special solutions,
but as central tools for future value creation.
Christoph Gümbel studied mechanical engineering at the University of
Stuttgart. Until the end of 2016, he was Head of Virtual Vehicle at the
Porsche AG Development Center in Weissach. After 37 years in the
company, during which he held several management positions, he left the
company. He is regarded worldwide as one of the leading experts in the use
of digital prototypes and simulation methods for design and functional
validation in the vehicle development process.
In addition, he was instrumental in founding and building up three
companies in Germany and abroad that are still very successful today in the
fields of supercomputing, computer-aided engineering, and simulation
methods. He now works as a consultant for digital development processes
and advises companies and institutions. He has been a partner at future
matters AG since 2017. His work focuses on automotive engineering trends,
future mobility, and digital prototyping.
